Gallbladder

Does everything you eat cause pain?

Pain in the upper right or upper middle of your stomach after eating may be caused by a gallbladder condition. The gallbladder is located under the liver, which stores and collects bile produced in the liver. When your gallbladder is acting up you may experience pain when eating, particularly when eating fatty foods.

Other symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, fever, yellowing of the skin and eyes and a bloated belly. One reason for having a gallbladder removed is the presence of gallstones. They can be as small as a grain of sand to as large as a golf ball. Gallbladder removal is a common surgery and is performed using general anesthesia.

Patient results may vary. Consult your physician about the benefits and risks of any surgical procedure or treatment.
